Joonseok Kim, Ph.D.
Welcome

I am Joonseok Kim, an Assistant Professor at Hongik University, Electronic and Electrical Engineering. My specialtise lies in the (1) integration of novel two-dimensional (2D) materials and topological materials into electronic devices, and (2) characterization of their electrical behaviors using functional scanning techniques.
Before joining Hongik University, I worked as a Staff Enginner at SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology), exploring the potential of 2D material's application for industrial-grade transistors and microelectronics. Monolithic three-dimensional (M3D) integration of 2D devices was the main objective of my research. Prior to SAIT, I worked as a Research Fellow in the Lauhon group at Northwestern University, with the research focus on manipulating the electronic and optical responses of ferroelectric 2D material devices.
I received Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, with the supervision of professors Deji Akinwande and Jung-Fu Lin. I received B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea.
